BE PRESENT® CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF LEADERSHIP BUILDING WITH MONTHLY EVENTS
THE LONG-TIME ATLANTA-BASED ORGANIZATION WILL INCLUDE STAFF, BOARD, AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN THE CELEBRATION
ATLANTA, Georgia (March 15, 2022) – Be Present, Inc.® is celebrating 30 years of community- and leadership-building work, which began with black women and girls and now includes all people.
Throughout this year, Be Present® will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary. Be Present has a reputation for building sustainable leadership for social justice. For three decades, the organization has supported the effective and sustainable leadership of a wide diversity of leaders in the social justice movement.
Starting with a powerful grassroots movement, Be Present has grown to become a nationally recognized organization. Be Present’s roots are traced to trainer and social change activist Lillie P. Allen’s groundbreaking Black & Female: What is the Reality? workshop held in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983.
The events and fundraisers that will be announced throughout 2022 will provide opportunities to expand and celebrate the wonderful support Be Present continues to receive from individuals, communities, organizations and foundations.
Be Present continues to prioritize and maintain its roots and values, which include being a diverse network of people willing to risk being different with one another, our families, communities, workplaces and organizations; being committed to a process that builds personal and community well-being on the strength of self-knowledge rather than on the distress of oppression; and believing that enduring progressive change begins with and is sustained by persistent personal growth.
The theme for the year is: Come for yourself, stay for community, together we can….
To celebrate 30 years of working and building the organization, Be Present will hold events throughout 2022 with staff, board, supporters, and communities across the country that include Atlanta, New York/New Jersey, Portland, Oregon, the San Francisco Bay area, and others.
