Scholarship Funds

Be Present® Scholarships

It is important that money does not create a barrier to anyone attending a Be Present® event or program. We are committed to having participants that represent a broad spectrum of our diverse communities. All participants contribute to and benefit from these experiences. General donations and scholarship donations (including to one of the specific scholarship funds below) ensures equal access to Be Present’s programs.

Diane “Kimmy” Brown Scholarship Fund

In honor and celebration of life lived fully and generously, Be Present® and the NYNJ Regional Organizing Core Group are proud to establish the Diane “Kimmy” Brown Scholarship Fund. Providing scholarship opportunities was one of Diane's passions. This scholarship fund provides financial support to young people, 23 years of age or less, to enable them to attend Be Present activities and trainings and join a community of diverse people committed to transforming the world, one voice at a time.

IMA Scholarship Fund

In honor and celebration of the life and loving generous spirit of Ruth Ries, Be Present® and Noa Mohlabane are proud to establish the Ima Scholarship Fund (Ima is the Hebrew word for mother).

This scholarship fund provides financial support to anyone wishing to attend Be Present activities and trainings and join a community of diverse people committed to transforming the world, one voice at a time.

In order for funds to support as many people as possible to participate, scholarship awards will be partial. Support will be given for people to either contribute or raise at least part of the fee themselves whenever possible - and for scholarships to be allocated at the low end of our sliding scale.

Anthony Quinn Jones Scholarship Fund

In honor and celebration of the caring life and loving spirit of Anthony Quinn Jones, Be Present® is proud to establish the Anthony Quinn Jones Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund provides financial support to African American men and boys to attend Be Present® training events and join a community of diverse people committed to transforming the world, one voice at a time.

Black & Female Scholarship Fund

In honor and celebration of the life and social justice work of Terry Boykins, first Co-Chair of the Board of Directors, Be Present® is proud to establish the Black & Female Scholarship Fund. This fund provides financial support for Black women and girls to receive leadership training in the Be Present Empowerment Model®.

Education Initiative Scholarship Fund

Effective Achievement and Equity In Education Initiative: Youth-Adult Partnerships in Action, a five year initiative that engages all levels of the education ecosystem (students, parents/caregivers, teachers, administrators and youth) in collaboration to address the barriers to access and inclusive participation.

Trailblazing Institute Scholarship Fund

The Trailblazing Institute: Creating and Sustaining Inner Transformation, Partnerships and Social Justice is an 18-month Institute that is a co-creation of two organizations—Be Present® and Wisdom & Money. This diverse group of trailblazers has gathered to practice a new way of being, leading and collaborating cultivated by the Institute’s three practice areas: The Be Present Empowerment Model®, Wisdom Practices and Transformative Money Practices.
