Communications Consultant - Immediate Need

Communication Lead Contractor- Remote 

Term:
6 Month remote contract

The work you will do:
We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Communications Consultant to partner with our small but dedicated staff team. This dynamic individual will collaborate closely with the Co-Leader of Transformation, as well as other staff members, consultants, volunteers, donors, and community partners. The consultant will play a pivotal role in leading organizational communications, amplifying the impactful work of Be Present, and managing assets to craft compelling internal and external narratives that showcase our mission and achievements.

Organizational Description:
Be Present, Inc. (“BPI”), founded in October 1992, is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to building sustainable leadership for social justice. The organization engages in the long-term work of social justice including racial and economic justice, education reform, community revitalization, civil rights, juvenile justice, reproductive health and rights, environmental justice, philanthropic reform, peace building and immigrant rights. Reporting & Check-Ins:
The primary points of contact, with additional staff participating as needed, will include the Co-Leaders of Transformation and the organization’s communications committee. Check-ins and meetings will include a series of virtual calls, project updates, discussion of needs, approach, collective buy-in and timeline consensus, presentation and approval of deliverables.

Requirements:
The ideal consulting partner will have the following qualifications:

1.    Demonstrated experience with digital communications, graphic design, branding, marketing.
2.    Excellent writing and communication skills.
3.    Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and strategies to non-designers and stakeholders.
4.    Strong eye for detail and a proven ability to carry a project from concept to completion.
5.    Ability to work individually in a self-directed manner and as part of a team, coordinating efforts with various partners and staff in order to create the desired outcomes.
6.    Understanding of how to work with collaborative teams.
7.    Experience working on communications materials for diverse cultures and audiences.
8.    Strong Coordination Experience
9.    Experience with grant writing and/donor related appeals is a plus

Contract Term and Budget:
The consultant will work with the Be Present Staff for an initial period of 6 months. The maximum budget for this contract is $45,000. The scope of work will be paid hourly at a rate of $65/hr with an average expected work week of 20 hours/week.
