A Personal Reflection by Medea Pluim

I have so many moments and highlights from these events. One of them is the support I received from Creatrix of Play Lillie Allen, Director of Network Leadership and Programs Annie Tobias, and LaVerne Robinson, Vision-Based Social Change Fund Development Consultant to envision, strategize, outreach, fundraise, to plan these events, all while being in the practice of the Be Present Empowerment Model®.

Other highlights include:

  • The partnership of our local core group, which included me, my son Jordan Pluim (who shared his wonderful insight on planning and outreach), and Petik White.
  • The workshop on Saturday. which was held at Jordan’s school, Fusion Academy.
  • The extraordinary and powerful relationships and teaching of all of our youth leaders.
  • Petik's impeccable leadership and practice of the Be Present Empowerment Model during all stages of creating the events.
  • The opportunity to say “thank you" and share the love and investment that I have grown from by being in the Bay Area Core Group (one of the highlights of my life).
  • Celebrating the community that has supported me to become a parent, find my voice as a white woman in a collaborative partnership in a diverse community, partner with my son, and continue to transform the distress of my oppression into self knowledge, compassion and movement!

The treasure that each person who came in person or spirit is forever woven into the story of how we in the San Francisco Bay Area continue to lead in creating transformative change for social justice.
